Our story starts in a magical world full of all sorts of the fantastic. This place is known as Aurophia. Aurophia is large, a planet approximately three times the size of the marble known as Earth.

We start at a medium sized town in a a valley surrounded by mountains. The town is built around a river that runs through the valley, and eventually leads to the ocean. The river has made the town an ideal spot to stop and trade, leading to an increase in size and wealth.

Wandering through the town's streets is a purple dragon with pink scales on her underbelly. Her name was Flower.

Flower was at the Town of Riversville looking for a very particular screwdriver for her friend, Laddy. This item seemed rather important to Laddy, but since he wasn't allowed to leave the Changeling Kingdom, Flower, wanting to help a friend out, offered to go in his place to pick it up.

Lingering outside one of the stalls on the street was an short, young girl whom goes by the name of "Fay": she is a humanoid, which is an uncommon sight in this particular part of the universe. This was only a temporary stop, however, for sooner or later she would leave this settlement to continue her search for a magic teacher.

The faerie girl was bartering with a shopkeeper in an attempt to supply herself with resources, but the only thing Fay had to pay with was a $5 bill and a couple of cents in her pocket. Worthless on Aurophia. The only other thing of value she could use were her circlet and golden ring, but they held too much personal value to her to be bargained with.

Frustrated, Fay quit her barter and walked away from the stall. She began observing the local commerce and hustle going about, and a solution to her problem began to form in her mind: with no resources acceptable for trade, she would likely have to resort to stealing in order to get what she needs. Since Fay lacked in moral judgement, this wouldn't pose too much of an emotion conflict for the faerie girl. Trying not to look suspicious, she began eyeing nearby stores and creatures to find something of worth to use.

Flower continued to walk around looking for the right place. Laddy mentioned it was in a less wealthier part of town, which meant it was probably farther from the river than some of the other stalls and shops. She hoped she wouldn't run into too much trouble on the way there.

Suddenly she stopped.

A few yards ahead of her was a human. Or at least it appeared human. On Aurophia, strange things were not always what they seemed. Humans on this world were a truly rare sight, especially here in a dragon based market town. It goes to show just how experienced Flower was just for recognizing her species. After all, this wasn't the first time she had seen humans.

The girl was talking to a shopkeeper. From the way they argued it seemed it wasn't going very well. She left the stall and started looking around. Flower, realizing that she had been staring, quickly looked away, hoping the human hadn't noticed.

A blue figure was creeping through the grass on a down not far from the town's borders. It was a very goat-like creature, but it's long, whip-like tail and single large eye, among other things, suggested it was something else. But perhaps it's strange appearance wasn't out of place in Aurophia.
It was sneaking slowly through the foliage, staying close to the ground. It's eye was locked on something hidden in a patch of dandelions.

The creature froze for a second in mid-step, and then jumped forward into the yellow flowers. A field mouse bolted from beneath it onto a clearing, and the blue animal followed. It took the creature just enough time to catch up for the mouse to run into it's hole. It grunted and started digging around the hole, but gave up soon after and continued it's search for a meal.

Fay hadn't noticed the purple dragon that was staring at her--being the target of having funny glances was to be expected in a predominately-dragon village, though this doesn't mean that the girl liked it. Even if she had noticed, it would make no difference.

After pushing these thoughts into the back of her head, a golden gleam caught Fay's attention. There was a jewel-encrusted warhorn with a leather string on a display shelf further down the street, clearly a model of some sort used for decoration than an actual battle item. It looked expensive.

With a plan formed in her mind, the faerie girl backed behind a corner where (hopefully) no one would see her. Using her sorcery, she enchanted herself with increased strength, which casted a faint green glow around her body. Next, she shifted into a common blackbird, enchantment still intact, and fluttered back out into the open bazaar.

Without warning, the now-blackbird swooped onto the display case and grasped the warhorn's leather string in both talons in an attempt to carry it off.

Flower had been through many adventures. Almost every time one had been about to start, something unusual happened. The first one involved a shapeshifter hunting lizard alien and his pet bird. Another time involved getting captured by other invading aliens known as the grox. And then there was the time where she found her friend Crystal with no wings thanks to a crazy dream master.

Now, there was a human in the middle of Riversville. Why she was here, Flower did not know. But she had the feeling that fate had once again put her into another peculiar situation. She decided to take another look at this stranger.

The girl had just moved behind a corner, out of sight from Flower's point of view. If Flower had looked up any later, she would've missed it. Suddenly a blackbird flew out of where the girl just was.

A little too suddenly...

Flower tried to get a better look of the bird, but it was moving fast. There seemed to be some sort of glow coming off it, but it was hard to see in the daylight. The bird flew to a decorative warhorn on display, and it was grabbing the horn's leather string with its talons. Flower was fairly confident the bird was that human girl, but there was really only one way to know for sure.

She sent a telepathic thought to the bird: What are you doing?

Flower was now openly reading the bird's mind, waiting for a response. If it really was the girl, she would have some intelligent, though most likely startled, response. If it was a normal bird, the thought pattern would be much more primitive. This seemed to be the best way to find out, as the bird wouldn't really know who sent the message unless it was psychic or had other certain abilities. If it proved to be dangerous, Flower would have more time to prepare for any attacks. It also seemed important that she find this out, even though the bird's actions were probably none of her business. Fate was funny like that, but Flower knew better than to ignore her oracle-like instincts.

So far, Fay’s efforts seemed to triumph. With the leather chord wrapped firmly in her talons, she would carry her prize off and find somewhere secluded to transform before the enchantment dissipated. After all, something so heavy couldn’t be transported by a mere songbird unaided.

...Or that’s what she would've normally done. Unfortunately for the faerie girl, it seemed that her usual antics weren’t going to go unnoticed this time around.

“What are you doing?” an unfamiliar voice sounded from within Fay’s head. Spooked, the bird let loose an unintentional “caw” and lost her grip on the decorative warhorn’s chord, which then flopped back onto the stall. Flustered and frustrated once more, she took perch on the stall’s edge to recover from the peculiar surprise.

“Taking this warhorn,” Fay answered, though it wasn’t entirely intentional: her thoughts came streaming in without consideration, a slip of the mind.

“Wait... no! That’s not what I meant to say,” she forced a conscious message out. If something truly had invaded Fay’s thoughts, she wasn’t quite sure whether to be angry or anxious about it. The faerie girl wasn’t the most socially adequate person to begin with, and the thought of being confronted for her actions made her feel very uneasy.

What would the repercussions be if she got caught?
