Gambit (IC)

Zal-Tek frowned, but nodded at Até.  He turned, leapt clear across the room without touching any of the books, and landed just in front of the door.  With that, he opened it and left.  He immediately saw the others, still there, waiting for him.  Should he tell them?  They had shown some amount of loyalty, but that could be simply because it was in their best interests not to make enemies.

What did it even mean, that they were here to be studied?  He hardly trusted a crazy creature who had threatened to kill him and Whitefire, among other things, more than these people.  But they had also done little to earn his trust, only because they hadn't had the chance.  He decided not to tell the others, but only because he didn't know enough about the situation.  He would, later, if it seemed wise.

"I don't mind either way." Nuke replied "If we do decide to stop, I will keep watch, that is if we really need one.." he said with a hint of a smile

Zal-Tek shrugged, "If anyone needs to rest I suppose we might as well," he said.  "I myself do not need to sleep."  He sat down, curling his tail around himself, and looked expectantly at the others, awaiting their decision.

"That sounds like a good idea. Let us stop then" replied Nuke. He walked to the center of the area and used his power to create logs, which he set ablaze. When he was finished, he had a nice campfire going. "If anyone wants warmth, they are welcome to it" he said, indicating the fire.

Zal-Tek settled down away from the fire, where he could see everyone around him. He relaxed some, but not entirely, as he refused to let his guard down in such a strange place. He felt no need to be near the fire, as it wasn't that cold, and he could easily summon something to keep himself warm if he needed to. He wondered how he would look in a cloak.

Seeing everyone settle down, Nuke walked away from the fire, stopping a few feet away from it. He rose up into the air until he was hovering a thousand feet exactly above the center of the campfire. He closed his eyes and reached out with his senses, feeling everything around them within a very long distance.

As soon as the Sun peeked over the horizon, Nuke lowered down slowly to the ground. He looked around at the others, then in the direction they had been travelling. He heard Whitefire growl and looked her way, before turning towards the fire he had made. With a swipe of his hand, the glowing embers broke down into dust and then dirt, which spread over the ground, effectively erasing any traces of the fire.

Zal-Tek, who had hardly moved all night, though not quite so much as Dee, pulled himself up to his feet.  He had no need to look around, as he had hardly stopped doing so all night.  He had, however, spent most of the night contemplating what he had been told the night before.  To be studied...

Now that he thought about it, Whitefire would not want to hear that, and she may not have to.  If whatever was watching them didn't interfere, they could likely just go home and forget about it soon, but if it did...  They would likely find out he knew, and his holding back information wouldn't do much for their opinion of him.  Once more he decided not to tell them, for now...

He didn't say a word as he got up, but if one was to look, they could see the deep thought on his face.

Nuke, who had let Whitefire's cloak drop to the ground when she threw it, turned towards Dee as he spoke. "Perhaps, we might as well anyway, and see what other odd things we may encounter. Although I must say I hope we do not run into that creature again"

Zal-Tek nodded, "that would be for the best," he agreed.  "We should keep going, if only to find a way to our homes..."  He twitched his tail, noting that he still had the extra weight of his blade, and relaxed slightly.  He would never be entirely defenseless, but he still liked having one of his best weapons with him in a situation like this.

Zal-Tek, rather than trying to walk down the steep path, began jumping down between rocks and flat areas.  He paused after a few leaps, balancing lightly on a large rock, and looked back at the others behind him, waiting for them to catch up.

Nuke ignored Whitefire's attitude, and walked after the others. When they began walking down into the gulley, he passed by where Zal-Tek was and continued on ahead. He kept his senses on alert.
